I love Mexican food.. The food here was just average nothing special.. The house strawberry Margarita was just okay.. Definitely not strong enough, and I'm a light weight. Overall not somewhere I would probably go back to.

Tried this establishment for supper on a Friday and was very pleased. First, they had Mariachis strolling the dinning room, this really added to the experience. We were seated with a bowl of corn tortilla chips and salsa which appeared to be home made. The menu had the usual list of Mexican beers, nothing surprising. My wife ordered a steak burrito which she said was tasty. I ordered the steak Tampicano, a steak seasoned with bell peppers and onions much like you would get on fajitas. The seasoning was tasty and it came with the usual rice, beans, and guacamole. You have the option of corn or flour tortillas with the steak. A strike against the place is the dinning room, it is small especially with mariachis strolling through it. They do have outdoor seating which I am looking forward to in warmer weather. The place over looks Commons Park and we visited it just after the towns Christmas Tree was lit, which added to the evenings atmosphere. Hopefully they will continue the service, food quality and taste, as well as the atmosphere.

Had Carne de Res en Salsa Verde . Very good. Julie had a tacos plate that included chorizo . Best I have ever tasted and I try a lot of chorizo. Theyes served a tomatillo sauce with the tacos. Was excellent . would be good on the sliced steak like what I was served .

My family and myself have eaten here three times in the last year. Very good food and large portions that are mouth watering tasteful in every bite. Nice place and reasonable pricing. Great family eatery!

Terrible ambience, slow service, marginally recognizable "Mexican" food that isn't worth the cost.

Good chips and salsa. When the mains came out (extremely fast I might add) we were looking at your traditional cheesy soupy Mexican fare. Not bad, but not great either. Huge Margarita. Good prices. Vegetarian section on menu. Overall - bland but I've had worse.

Was there abt 820p Monday night, was slow, maybe 3 or 4 tables with 2 or 3 servers; ten mins to get someone at table just to take drink order. Food came out soon enough and was pretty good; service was really awful. To top it off, my food got to table abt 840 and they started to close ahead of 9 pm closing time, running around putting chairs up on all unoccupied tables and the bar with patrons still sitting. Really? Didn't pay $15 to look at underside of chairs 4 ft away.

We ordered this to-go for a work lunch and everyone was raving about how good it was and I agree. I got the taco salad and it was very generous. Also the salsa is amazing.

Best Mexican food around. It is on my top 3 to recommend to friends. Great friendly staff. My family each have their "go to" favorites but we also try to venture out in the menu. I have never had a bad meal there since they opened.

The prices are good and the food is tasty for the area where there are not many Mexican restaurant options. The tamale was super big but a little saucy for me which I wasn't use to! The tacos were good and I really enjoyed the shrimp one. The service was ok too nothing exceptional but nothing to complain about. Wide selection of lunch specials.

Excellent service, especially compared to restaurants in the area. The food is always good, but not always consistent. I always order the Texas Fajitas and sometimes there is more shrimp than other times. I've had it be very bland at times and other times more flavorful. ?

What a great surprise! The way they prepare they shrimp is delicious. I also tried my husband's fajitas style quesadillas and it was very tasty. Way to go El Mariachi.

Fab local Mexican place. Salsa tastes fresh and delicious, free plates of nachos of course, a giant menu. I ordered a burrito smothered in queso and stuffed with three kinds of meats (I was kinda bummed I couldn't find a veggie burrito, but for you meat-eaters, this stuff is good!) And it was SPICY. Love it. I always revise my expectations downward for Midwest restaurants because peeps up here like their stuff BLAND. But hell no this was SPICY. And filling. Giant burrito. I will come here again and again, if ever in the area.

Shrimp salad and grilled veggie fajitas were very tasty, fast service, and pleasant staff with some outside seating... Not far off the freeway in the nice town of Lake Mills.

Their food is pretty good, what you would expect for traditional Mexican fare. They have huge margaritas too and give you plenty of chips and salsa. That said, their service is not great. Last time I was in my friend and I were seated next to a large party. The waiter took at least 20 minutes to take our order. The food took a long time, but that was to be expected with the big group. Then the server ignored us for the remainder of the meal. Regardless of this experience, the waitstaff has never been ideal.

Just okay, the service isn't fantastic and I would love to never go there again. The food is not great or even good really. But given the lack of choices in Lake Mills I'm sure I'll be back.

I ordered take-out vegetarian fajitas and they came with big chunks of meat. I tried to call and explain without success.

Best Mexican option in lake mills, as such it tends to be pretty busy during weekend nights in the summer. Despite the restaurant's popularity the servers are usually pretty focused and perceptive when it comes to the right time to place an order or bring the food out. The space isn't huge but there is a separate room to accommodate medium/large groups and outdoor seating available. We always start with the guacamole, chunky, it is very good. That is usually brought right after I ruin my appetite on the chips and salsa, also very good. My favorite entree on the menu are the Chorizo tacos on back page bottom of the menu. The margaritas tend to be a little inconsistent -between strong and weak and wherever in-between. Throughout all of my trips to El Mariachi, myself and others in my party have tried a wide variety of items on the menu. I cannot think of one time when we left upset with the food or service. Very good 3.5/5 Check out more of my reviews at ShawnKemp.yelp.com

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
